Overcoming the Fear of Blogging
It can be a daunting task to start a blog for your business, no matter if you are a start-up, or you have been in business for a while. Having a blog provides your business strategy with a marketing tactic that is basically free (it does take time and time is money) and will help you engage with your clients, and potential clients, by providing tips and secrets on how to improve something, or providing a sampling of the products you offer.
In the beginning it’s always best to start slow. Don’t get bogged down with having to have everything done before your start! There are many tools available to help you plan and organize. But don’t be upset if you mess up. We entrepreneurs know it’s best to mess up than to give up!
Here are some pointers:
The Title: Grab the attention of the reader with a catchy title and keywords. Don’t forget to keep it under 70 characters.
Opening Paragraph: Again, grab the attention of the reader by relating to them and briefly describe the nature of the blog.
How Long Should the Blog Be? I get this question a lot. The standard is 500 to 800 words. Just the number alone can freak you out, but once you start writing you will be amazed at what actually comes out. Don’t forget to PROOFREAD!
Adding Pictures & Links: It’s always good to support your content with a picture, video, or links to other sites. Pictures draw folks in, and links add credibility to your content. Make sure both are relevant to your subject matter. If you are writing your blog and you do not invite the reader to engage with you, or read a link you have added, then you are wasting your time blogging.
